2018 GMC Sierra 1500
Mileage100,031Service Date3/5/2025Services Performed- Test drove vehicle- electric power steering system seemed to work as designed. Scanned all control modules for relevant faults. Found C0800:03, "Control module power circuit low voltage" & U0073:00, "Control module communication high speed CAN bus off" stored in Power Steering Control Module. Performed resistive test of battery- PASS. Noted corrosion preventive coating recently applied to both battery terminals appeared to have seeped through gaps between terminal and battery post. Removed terminals from battery and verified corrosion protection chemical had indeed seeped in between post and terminal, insulating terminal from post slightly. This technician has experienced this type of chemical causing electrical malfunctions such as no-crank conditions in the past. General Motors Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-161 indicated this fault is most commonly caused by loose or corroded battery terminals and/or cable connections. Cleaned chemical corrosion inhibitor from both positive and negative terminals and posts. Enhanced connection with dielectric compound during re-assembly. This type battery, cable, and terminal design very rarely results in excessive corrosion of terminals, so additional chemical corrosion inhibitors are not necessary. Cleared faults and test drove vehicle. Should warning message return in near future, please return vehicle as soon as possible for further diagnosis.
- Performed four wheel alignment service. Performed all necessary resets and calibrations.

Fully plugged in coil connector, replaced battery and negative battery terminal and cleared codes and took on test drive and check engine light did not return. During test drive noticed a coolant smell. Pressurized cooling system and found that there is a coolant leak from the passenger side front intake manifold where the intake manifold bolt was installed and bottomed out in the hole but was not actually contacting the intake manifold. Looked around at cooling system and noticed that the upper radiator hose is swollen and one of the heater hoses is also swollen, also the coolant tube that is installed in the back of the water pump is in poor condition. Customer declined further repairs or diagnostics at this time. Complete.
