Warmed vehicle up, found voltage is dropping to 12.5 when running, load tested alternator, found amperage output is normal, diode test is marginal/bad. Battery is new, and load testing OK. Recommend replace alternator due to intermittent failure, and diodes testing marginal. Replaced alternator and belt. Vehicle voltage is holding steady at 13.8V-14.3V

2004 Chevrolet Silverado
Mileage207,794Service Date8/21/2024Services Performed- Scanned all control module for relevant faults: found U0106 – Loss Communication with Glow Plug Control Module, P0880 – TCM Power Input Signal stored in powertrain controller(s). Found C0055 – Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Fault stored in brake controller. PCM fault P0880 showed as "current" fault. Removed transmission controller to facilitate circuit testing. Load tested all power and ground circuits with and without TCM connected- all OK. Cleared P0880 from transmission controller, fault immediately returned. Noted transmission controller was recently "refurbished" by a third party supplier. Found original TCM in back of passenger compartment. Installed original TCM to vehicle, P0880 easily cleared and did not immediately recur, nor did it recur during the following test drive. Test drove vehicle extensively. P0880 Returned intermittently. Dissected wiring from TCM to fuse box & inspected for chafing, opens & shorts- none found. Inspected terminal in fuse box that feeds TCM constant power, found evidence of "fretting". Cleaned terminal, added stabilant treatment to terminal to promote better contact. Replaced glow plug control module to address lack of communication fault. Test drove vehicle numerous times, rechecking faults after each drive cycle. No powertrain or brake faults returned.

- scanned vehicle and the engine has a po128 code in it and their are 2 other codes u0401 and a b1325 code went through the flow chart and the code will be set if voltage drops below 9.5 volts or above 15 volts checked the battery and on start up the voltage dropped to 9 volts installed new battery and re checked voltage is 11 volts on start up and the light is out at this time complete
