Services Performed
- Scanned all control modules for relevant faults- none found. Noted P0502, "Engine oil pressure sensor circuit." Checked for spark from ignition coil while cranking- coil would only spark one time each attempt to start. Unplugged #4 injector and installed diagnostic light, noted similar behavior to ignition coil. Ensured fuel pressure was correct and fuel pump was capable of supplying proper volume of fuel to rail. Attached laboratory oscilloscope to crankshaft position sensor circuit AND both camshaft position sensor circuits and obtained waveform while cranking. Waveforms appeared correct, and upon further analysis and comparison to known good captures, basic engine timing was deemed to be OK. Checked all power and ground circuits at engine controller, all tested good. Obtained used engine controller and installed, programmed immobilizer and ignition key to controller, and engine still would not start. Rechecked all previously performed inspections and tests; no further faults found. Manually powered all fuel injectors and then triggered them while analyzing resultant waveform with lab scope, not problems found. Obtained NEW OEM crankshaft sensor and installed to engine- engine started and ran properly. Reassembled vehicle complete and performed test drive. NOTE: Engine oil pressure sensor harness is frayed, connector is missing. Harness repair will be required.
